The idea that jesus died for our sins is ridiculous at best. That is because: 1) After he died for the sins of people, people did not automagically transform into sinless little angels. So, what exactly did he fix? 2) He didn’t really die, technically speaking. He arose after three days (supposedly). That kind of defeats the purpose of dying, don’t you think? What good is the pain...

Half a century of laser weapons →
Jeff Hecht: Even before the laser was invented, science fiction writers saw rich potential in the use of light-beam “death rays” as powerful tools of destruction. But the real history of directed-energy weapons in the United States has been fraught with political and technical challenges and setbacks. A very interesting read for fans of laser weapons.

Apple Vs Goldman Sachs →
Another thing that differentiates Goldman from Apple is how much it pays its employees. In 2010, Goldman’s 35,700 employees took home an average of $430,700. Apple doesn’t publish much information about its labor costs. According to the jobs Web site Simply Hired, the average salary at Apple is $46,000. Another Web site, Salary List, quotes a substantially higher figure—$107,719—but that doesn’t...

AAPL predictions →
In our ranking of the best and worst Apple (AAPL) analysts for Q1 2011, which lists them based on how accurately they predicted seven key numbers — revenue, earnings, gross margins and unit sales — the unaffiliated analysts (blue in the chart at right) took 9 out of the 10 top spots. The bottom 20 spots were all held by professionals working for the banks and brokerage houses. Taken as a...

That's it. I have lost my mind...
My entire dream last night consisted of me taking a physics exam. Yes, I actually dreamt through a whole exam. I even remember most of the questions, and I remember doing all the little calculations, even the simple ones like divisions and additions!  aahhh… torture. I wish I didn’t remember every little dream I see.

[work] : The blessings of air cooling
The earlier surface map I posted was for current density. This new one here is for the temperature profile resulting from the joule heating through the titanium bolt leads in the bus bar. Looks good. You can see that the temperature hot spots follow the the current density from the earlier graph. The joule heating obviously happens b/n the top titanium lead and the bottom ones. Notice though...
